Neck pain is one of the most common reasons people seek Chiropractic care. The constant build up of tension can be incredibly distracting, making it hard to focus on and enjoy what’s right in front of you. You might find yourself constantly moving and stretching your neck to try and make the pain go away, and that can be extremely frustrating. Frequent computer work is a huge factor causing tension to build up in the neck. Neck pain will also frequently limit range of motion – for example many notice difficulty turning their head as they back their car out of the driveway. This pain may also cause fatigue, difficulty concentrating, headaches and shoulder or upper back pain. And as the tightness increases, it becomes easier to feel mentally overwhelmed, and harder to find your center and relax.
There are many factors that can contribute to your neck pain. If it’s strictly a muscle problem, this will usually resolve on its own within a few days. If your neck pain continues or frequently comes and goes, a Chiropractor can determine if there is an underlying spinal alignment problem and nerve damage that is causing the pain to stay there. If you are a candidate for Chiropractic care, we can gently realign the small, movable bones of the neck with a Chiropractic approach that does not pop, crack, or twist the neck. Using only gentle pressure to do adjustments, this gets the spine moving properly again and the nerves (and muscles) can finally relax. After sometimes suffering for years with neck pain, it’s really exciting to see people feel better!
